Grain Belt Brewhouse

Grain Belt Brewery

From the time it was constructed in 1891, the Grain Belt Brewhouse has been a treasured landmark for northeast Minneapolis, providing an awe-inspiring connection to the city’s industrial past along the Mississippi riverfront. Its restoration took the concerted effort of private and public entities including the Ryan Companies, RSP Architects, the Minneapolis Community Development Corporation, and the unyielding commitment of the community. Preserving the remarkable features of this structure, which had stood empty for twenty-six years, posed formidable challenges while converting it to contemporary use. The renovation of the Grain Belt Brewhouse received the National Trust for Historic Preservation Honor Award in 2006.
